The board of the Greater Greenfield Chamber of
Commerce held a major strategic planning session in
1997. From that plan, the Hancock Visitor’s
Bureau, the East Central Indiana Chambers
Partnership, and the Greater Hancock County Chamber
of Commerce Foundation were created.
In 2004, the board took the time
to step back and review the basic structure of the
Chamber’s committees and daily operations. The
board restructured the organizational chart of the
Chamber by taking the large number of committees and
creating six divisions. Tasks and events are
listed under each division. This new structure
has allowed the Chamber to run more efficiently.
The next step for the Board is to
brand the Chamber and create a vision plan that
would further strengthen the partnerships both in
and out of the county. The Chamber believes
that with a common focus, we will be able to take
advantage of the move towards a more global economy
instead of being left behind.
The strengths of the area include
an extraordinary educational system, a thriving
business climate, a diverse employment base,
outstanding hospital and health care options and
plentiful housing opportunities. We also enjoy
the benefit of a full-time economic development
director.
The Board will continue to assess the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and threats as we move
towards a solid plan for the future of our Chamber
and our community.
